I was assigned to be a Permanent Deacon at St. Bernadette’s on August 15, 2013. I was ordained as a deacon in May of 2006 by Cardinal Francis George. My wife Anita went through the Diaconate Formation Program with me and is a Lay Minister for the Archdiocese of Chicago. My wife and I celebrated our 30th Wedding Anniversary this year and we have been blessed with two sons. Our oldest son, Matthew, was ordained to the Priesthood for the Archdiocese of Chicago in May of 2012 and was appointed as Pastor of St. Columbanus Catholic Church as of July 1, 2013. Our second son, Andrew, works for a large company in Deerfield in finance and retirement plans, recently being promoted to Pension Administrator, and resides in Palatine.
I am a funeral director by profession, for over 30 years, and was the manager of a small family firm on the North side for 30 years and now work for a local firm in Bridgeview. I am a St. Jude Chaplain for the Chicago Police Department and I am a 3rd Degree member of the Knights of Columbus. Anita has worked for Indian Springs School District 109 for the past 18 years and has been the secretary at Lyle Elementary School for the last 13 years.
