On Saturday and Sunday, October 17 and 18, Fr. Charles W. Dahm, O.P, Director of Domestic Violence Outreach for the Archdiocese of Chicago, will preach at all the Masses at St. Bernadette Parish. Although largely unseen, domestic violence is rampant in the United States, including in our community. On average, 24 people per minute are victims of rape, physical violence, or stalking by an intimate partner, according to a 2010 survey conducted by the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention. Domestic violence does not discriminate between male or female, young or old, rich or poor; it has no boundaries. During the weekend of October 17 and 18, Fr. Dahm will be present at all Masses to share information on this topic. On Monday, October 26, Fr. Dahm will meet at 7:30 p.m. in O’Brien Hall with those parishioners interested in learning more about domestic violence and helping our parish respond to the needs of victims in our community.
