We often hear about Jesus’ passion and death, but imagine experiencing them for the very first time. In "No Greater Love: A Biblical Walk Through Christ’s Passion", we are going to walk step-by-step with Jesus on his journey from his agony in the garden to his crucifixion on Calvary. "No Greater Love" is St. Bernadette’s Lenten adult faith formation study program that will be conducted completely online this year. The free, five-part program begins February 21, 2021 at noon. Please register by February 14 so we have time to order materials. Virtual meeting details will be emailed to you several days before our first session.

You are encouraged to sign up to attend Christmas Masses. Since we have strict capacity limits, we cannot seat more than 100 people per Mass. While we may be able to seat “walk-ups” if we have not reached our capacity, priority will always be given to those who have signed up in advance. Our Christmas Mass times this year are: 2:30 p.m. on Christmas Eve, 5:00 p.m. on Christmas Eve, 12:00 a.m. Midnight Mass, 8:30 a.m. on Christmas Day, 10:30 a.m. on Christmas Day
Beginning this week, on Saturday at the 4:00 p.m. Mass, we will begin live streaming Mass. Our plan is to live stream the 4:00 p.m. Saturday Mass each week and have it available on our website, Facebook page, and YouTube channel, just as we have been doing since the start of the pandemic with pre-recorded Sunday Masses.

Whether you are joining us in person for Mass this weekend or continuing to join us spiritually, it’s wonderful to be back. As we begin the process of reopening for Mass, we have some things we want to make sure you are aware of, especially if you plan to celebrate with us this weekend in church.
Father’s Day is coming and we will be offering Father’s Day Mass cards again this year. These cards may be purchased for fathers, grandfathers, godfathers, and spiritual fathers, both living and deceased. The Father's Day cards will then be mailed to you at an address you provide for us.
As we continue to navigate these uncertain and difficult times, St. Bernadette Parish will continue to provide opportunities for spiritual enrichment. We are posting our "Take 5 for Faith" weekly reflections, normally found in the bulletin, online for the benefit of our parishioners. We encourage you to find the time to continue to pray and grow in spirit.
Our church is open from 8:30 a.m. until 12:00 noon every day for private prayer. However, no more than 10 people will be allowed in the church at one time. We are asking parishioners to sign up in advance if they would like to come to church to pray using SignUpGenius. In addition, anyone who has signed up will be asked to wear a face mask, and will be provided with hand sanitizer when they arrive. Although celebrating Mass together is still not a possibility right now, we are getting closer to the day when we will be able to gather together and celebrate once again. We will continue to stream our Masses on YouTube each weekend, and we encourage all of you to continue practicing spiritual communion.
Both Fr. Benedykt and Fr. Bob continue to say Mass daily and pray for any Mass intentions of the day. You can continue to request Mass intentions by calling 708-422-8995 or by clicking on the "Request Mass Intentions" title above and filling out the required information.
Last week, the Archdiocese of Chicago announced that it’s parishes could begin to reopen for baptisms, confessions, weddings, and funerals as early as this week, and for private prayer by next weekend. All parishes have been told to reopen at their own pace, in a way that is appropriate for them and for their community. Our goal is to have St. Bernadette open for private prayer, with no more than 10 people at any one time, beginning Sunday, May 31, from 8:30 a.m. to 12 noon and to remain open daily at those same times.
The Archdiocese of Chicago, in consultation with public health officials and the State of Illinois, has been working on a plan for safely reopening parishes and resuming worship services. We invite you to read more about our plan to safely resume public worship at St. Bernadette.
Join Archbishop José Gomez, president of the U.S. Conference of Catholic Bishops and archbishop of Los Angeles, in a national moment of prayer in the time of the coronavirus. Together as a nation, we will pray the Litany of the Sacred Heart of Jesus and seek our savior’s healing and protection at 11:00 a.m. Central Time on Good Friday.
The parish has put together a list of resources for you and your family to use as you prepare for Easter during Holy Week. There are videos resources, links to daily reflections, Stations of the Cross reflections, our children's bulletin pages, and even links to virtual tours of cathedrals and basilicas around the world.
I invite you to join in solidarity with Cardinal Cupich and the entire Archdiocese of Chicago in prayer five times a day. We will be ringing our church bells at the hours of prayer.
Fr. Benedykt wanted to let everyone know what is happening at St. Bernadette Parish during these difficult and uncertain times, as well as provide opportunities for spiritual enrichment and community while Masses are suspended due to the coronavirus outbreak.
Word on Fire ENGAGE is a series of Lenten reflections you can receive via email. ENGAGE utilizes Flocknote, so you must be signed up for our parish's Flocknote messaging service to participate. By using Flocknote, this will send Bishop Barron’s reflection and videos to your email, where you can read or watch them at your convenience. You can then post comments or join in an online discussion about the material with other parishioners. Click the link in the above headline to sign up.
