The holy season of Lent begins on February 10, Ash Wednesday. Catholics are invited to come and receive ashes on their foreheads as a sign of repentance and mortality. Ashes will be distributed at Masses at 8:30 a.m. and 7:00 p.m. and at a communion service at 3:30 p.m.
The Parish and Finance Councils are hosting our annual Fish Fry/Bake on Friday, February 12 from 5-7 p.m. in O'Brien Hall. After the Fish Fry, all are welcome to attend "The Passion of Christ" performed by Wieczernik Ministry at 7:00 p.m. in church.
Our parish Lenten Bible Study kicks off on Thursday, February 11 at 7:00 p.m. in the Rectory Meeting Room and continue every Thursday evening until March 17 (six weeks total). We'll be covering the Sunday Lenten Gospels, and the sessions will be led by our seminarian, Peter Aiura.
The theater-prayer group Wieczernik (“Cenacle”) at St. Hyacinth Basilica in Chicago will be coming to St. Bernadette Parish to perform "The Passion of Christ" on February 12 at 7:00 p.m. in the Church.
A cast of non-professional actors performs passages taken directly from Scripture. The production is free of charge, but a freewill donation is taken at the end of the production to help cover costs.
Wieczernik is a Catholic religious drama group, basing its actions on the Word of God. Their goal is to spread the Word by visual image. They are based at St. Hyacinth Basilica at 3636 W. Wolfram St. in Chicago.
Our Annual St. Patrick/St. Joseph's Day Party is Saturday, March 19 at 7:30 p.m. in O'Brien Hall. There will be plenty of food, laughter, and entertainment by the band Sean & Charlie. We will also be holding the drawing for our Pot-O-Gold raffle at the party.
